A great base for exploring
The Old Posthouse B&B provides a great base in the countryside for exploring large parts of Lincolnshire - as some recent guests discovered.
Walking in the Lincolnshire Wolds
On their first full day, they went walking in the Lincolnshire Wolds (a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) which is just a short drive from The Old Posthouse.
They spent a beautiful day doing a circular walk in the countryside, ending up at a village pub for a late lunch. Then they drove back to Normanby by Spital
We have plenty of maps and guidebooks that guests can use to plan their day.
Some History
The following day revolved around history.
First of all they went to the antiques centres at Hemswell Cliff. These are spread across numerous buildings on the site of the old RAF Hemswell base - with antiques from hundreds of dealers.
Then they went to The Dambusters Inn at Scampton for lunch, an award winning pub packed with memorabilia to the famous Dambusters 617 Squadron.
And finally off to Gainsborough Old Hall, one of the best preserved medival manor houses in England.
Lincoln
Their last day was spent exploring Lincoln.
The Old Posthouse is just a 20 minute drive to the Westgate 1 East Car Park underneath the imposing walls of Lincoln Castle.
Then a short walk to explore Bailgate, Steep Hill, Lincoln Cathedral (one of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe) and Lincoln Castle (home to a copy of the Magna Carta).
Evening meals
Their evening meals were at the local pub, The Bottle & Glass in Normanby by Spital - just 2 minutes from our front door.
They also had time to sit in the "beautiful garden" of The Old Posthouse and enjoy the sunshine and the quiet of the village while catching up.
