The Old Posthouse B&B

We started the B&B in 2018, and now have a 4 star Award, a Gold Award and a Breakfast Award from VisitEngland; and in 2023 we received a VisitEngland Rose Award for service excellence. From SME News, we received a Best of British Getaways 2023 award and in the Midlands Enterprise Awards for 2024 an Award for Traditional Country Guest House of the Year – Lincolnshire; and we were shortlisted in the Tourism Excellence Awards for 2024-25 in the Best B&B and Guest House category for Lincolnshire and Rutland.

Normanby by Spital

Tucked away in the peaceful Lincolnshire countryside, just north of Lincoln, Normanby by Spital is a picturesque little village with a long history, being mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 – where it is referred to as Normanebi. The name comes from Old English and Old Scandinavian meaning Northman village; and the Spital refers to the ancient hospital for the poor that was located on Ermine Street (now the A15) and where the hamlet of Spital in the Street is now located.

The Bottle & Glass

The Bottle and Glass is a charming traditional pub in the middle of the village. It offers a perfect blend of rustic character and modern comfort. The pub has a wide selection of drinks and a great range of pub food; and is an ideal spot to unwind.

Walks

The village is surrounded by countryside and there are various walks from the village of just over 1mile to approximately 7 miles (including our favourite, a walk over fields to the nearby village of Glentham and The Crown Inn and back).

Tony and Julia

Having spent most of our working lives sitting behind desks, we now love meeting the variety of different people who come and stay; and passing on tips about where to visit. Tony loves cooking, particularly trying different cuisines; and Julia helps by sampling his efforts while complaining about the mess he has left. We both love walking, visiting the Antiques centres at Hemswell Cliff, and visiting the local pubs.
