Sustainability

The Old Posthouse B&B Sustainability Statement

At The Old Posthouse B&B, we are strongly committed to sustainability and minimising our environmental impact.

Outside

Our garden is a haven for bees, butterflies and birds with an abundance of flowers and fruit and we try to ensure a wide variety of flowers going through Spring, Summer and Autumn, berries for the winter and a year-round supply of fresh water.

We provide cycle storage for guests to encourage cyclists to stay and have joined up to the Cycle Lincolnshire Charter to promote this.

We dry the majority of our laundry outside, weather permitting, to save energy.

We have started to include more drought-friendly plants in the garden to cut down on water usage during dry periods.

Our Food

Our breakfast offering reflects our dedication to local sourcing:

These practices not only support our local community but also reduce our carbon footprint.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

We recycle as much of our own and our guests’ refuse as possible – including plastic, glass, paper and cardboard.

We use refillable toiletries in the guest bathrooms, which use vegan and cruelty-free ingredients and the bottles are made from 100% recycled Prevented Ocean Plastic (TM).

We provide facecloths for the removal of make-up to help reduce the use of disposable wipes.

We ask guests to turn off the lights and the TV when they go out.

We encourage guests to reuse towels on stays of more than one night and air them outside for them.

Similarly, we do not replace bed linen on stays of 2 to 6 nights to help reduce water and energy use.

We provide fresh milk and filtered tap water for guests in washable/ reusable glass and stainless steel bottles. Our water is filtered with a Phox sustainable water filter which uses a refillable water filter cartridge.

All of the light bulbs in the building are low energy LEDs.

We have changed the guest showers to ones with an Eco setting which helps reduce energy consumption;

Most of the wooden furniture in the guest quarters, apart from the beds, is antique or pre-owned, helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

We donate our used printer ink cartridges to charity for recycling.

By choosing to stay with us, you contribute to a more sustainable future and support our ongoing efforts to protect and cherish the environment.
